"Made in Italy" not only represents the manufacture in Italy, but also represents the accumulation of knowledge, skills and traditions related to generations of crafts and technology, as well as a way of life. On January 24, 2024, Delia Olivetto from the China Department of GSOM Management School of Milan Polytechnic University organized students from the Value Chain and Sustainable DBA program to visit REDA, a wool fabric supplier with a history of 150 years. REDA is located in the small town of Biella under the Alps. Biella has a hundred years of tradition in wool manufacturing, and it is an important wool textile industry agglomeration area in Italy, known as "Italy's wool loom". It is also the birthplace of famous wool fabric manufacturers such as ZEGNA and Loro Piana. Founded in 1865, REDA has become one of the world's outstanding suppliers of high-end men's clothing fabrics, mainly designing, producing and manufacturing high-quality pure wool fabrics.

As a traditional manufacturing enterprise with 150 years of history, REDA has experienced various changes and challenges in many technological reforms and economic crises, as many Italian manufacturing enterprises have. REDA has always put talent training and technological innovation at the top of the list of enterprise development. Many technicians in REDA's production workshop are willing to teach their skills to the next generation of the family, and many employees have worked in REDA for generations. Ercole Botto Poala, the fourth generation head of REDA, received the teachers and students from the China Department of GSOM Management School of Milan Polytechnic University. During the visit, Dr. Cao Long jun, the founder of REAL NEW MATERIAL SCIENCE & TECHNOlOGY COMPANY LIMITED, made an in-depth exchange on how REDA, as a leading enterprise in the industry, promotes technological upgrading, new applications of textile products, degradable textiles and other industry concerns under the driving force of sustainable development.

The visit was arranged by the Milan Polytechnic University. Founded in 1863, the Milan Polytechnic University is one of the most outstanding universities in the world.
