In mid-January 2024, Dr. Cao Longjun, founder of Real New Material, visited i2cool, an alumni enterprise of City University of Hong Kong, and discussed the industry application prospect of electric-free refrigeration coating under the trend of global warming with Ivan, project manager of i2cool.Currently, i2cool's electric-free refrigeration coating provides diversified solutions for many fields according to different demand scenarios, such as super high-rise buildings, solar photovoltaic panels, containers, chemical storage and transportation, prefabricated buildings, sports venues, automotive glass and skylights and other application fields.
i2cool is a technology start-up company incubated by HK Tech 300 project of City University of Hong Kong. Electric-free refrigeration coating is the first commercial product of i2cool. After 7 years of research and development, it was officially launched into the market in 2021.The coating uses outer space as the refrigeration source and achieves refrigeration effect lower than ambient temperature through efficient solar reflection and mid-infrared thermal radiation. Mid-infrared radiation can pass through the atmosphere unimpeded and does not affect the composition of the earth's atmosphere. Therefore, the heat radiated outward by passive radiation refrigeration coating can be directly absorbed by cold outer space. As long as the coating is covered in the roof or external wall, no energy or refrigerant can be achieved "no electricity refrigeration" cooling effect.
