MerRIND ® Lean Lubrication takes great pride in participating in the international cooperation project “Innovation-driven Sustainable Future: Pilot Program (FIRST)” led by the City University of Hong Kong. This program has been officially recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and is included in the first-round global action plan of the “United Nations Decade of Science for Sustainable Development (2024 - 2033)”.

As an advocate and practitioner of sustainable development within the chemical industry domain, the MerRIND ® brand has consistently adhered to the sustainable development philosophy of efficient energy utilization. It is dedicated to becoming a successful partner for current and future market leaders in the industry. Established in 2008, leveraging its professional expertise and innovative concepts grounded in synthetic lubrication technology, the MerRIND ® brand has been continuously developing high-performance, low-emission, and environmentally friendly lubrication materials and specialty chemical products with high added value for the industry. MerRIND ® was the first in the industry to advocate a lean lubrication management model based on lean products. Starting from meticulous details, it uses lean lubrication products as an entry point to promote the clean production and high-quality development of industrial enterprises. It collaborates with partners to apply MerRIND ®'s high-performance lean products, digitalization, and lean management in the equipment lubrication area of industrial enterprises, and jointly practices sustainable, green, low-carbon, and lean industry lubrication solutions with partners.

During the first-round application for the “United Nations Decade of Science for Sustainable Development (2024 - 2033)” (hereinafter referred to as the “Decade of Science”, IDSSD), only 30 programs globally received official recognition from UNESCO. The selection results were officially announced at the “10th United Nations Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals” on May 7th. The Pilot Program (FIRST, with the full name of Fostering Innovation for Resilience and Sustainable Transformation) was successfully selected.

The program will center on global challenges such as rising temperatures, biodiversity loss, uneven energy distribution, and water scarcity. It aims to enhance the overall resilience of the environment and society through affordable and scalable innovative technologies, with a particular focus on the response capabilities of resource-constrained regions.

This international recognition not only marks a significant milestone for the City University of Hong Kong in global sustainable development issues but also showcases its long-term commitment to contributing to sustainable development through scientific innovation and cooperation with global partners.

Mr. Tse Chin-wan, BBS, JP, Secretary for the Environment and Ecology of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated: “The recognition of this program by UNESCO fully demonstrates how collaboration and innovation can jointly shape a sustainable future.
