The 6th Petroleum and Chemical Enterprises Sustainable Development Forum was held in East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai.

The chemical industry is an important industry in the national economy, and also an industry with a high ESG risk index. In the context of ESG becoming the mainstream trend in the world, only by striving to fully integrate ESG into mainstream business, focusing on circular economy and low-carbon transformation, and constantly improving ESG performance and disclosure level, can chemical enterprises stay invincible in long-term development. Green and sustainable development has become the primary development goal of countries around the world. The construction of a new sustainable, green and low-carbon global value chain circulation system has become a global consensus. Companies pay more attention to the environmental footprint and carbon footprint of the production process. They emphasize that while generating value added, they should pay attention to the impact of each part of value added on the environment, ecology and climate of the country and region where they are located, and try to put forward voluntary green standards or index systems in line with international standards to promote the implementation of green value chain concepts and actions.

On December 15, 2023, the "Sixth Sustainable Development Forum for Petroleum and Chemical Enterprises" was grandly held in the Business School of East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST). ECUST as a national key research university with multidisciplinary coordinated development featuring chemistry and chemistry, aims to promote the green, low-carbon and sustainable development of China's petroleum and chemical industry, and create an industry-university-research cooperation and communication platform with industry enterprises.
